I attended a mushaira at Dhar city in Madhya Pradesh on September 3,
2013 along with Iqbal Masood, Mrs Anita Mokati, Saleem Sabri, Tabassum
Dharvi, Akram Saaqi, Nazar Dharvi, Shalabh Johi and others. It was
organised by Allama Iqbal Literary Division of Madhya Pradesh Cultural
Council. (The mushaira was preceded by a seminar on “Allama Iqbal, Unka
Kalaam aur Zindagi) I am grateful to institution’s Director Prof.
Tirubhuvan Nath Shukla for organasing such a successful seminar and
mushaira commemorating immortal Allama Iqbal. Mr. Mumtaz Khan of the
institution was the moving spirit behind the great event.
I was glad to see that Urdu is prospering in Dhar, which has small presence of Urdu knowing people. Here I will make a special mention of Mrs Anita Mukati, who has emerged as one of most popular Urdu poets at mushairas in India. (She is seen sitting next to me on the dais). Later, Anita told me that she has great “aamad”. When I asked her how she manages this when she is over-busy in her garment trade, her children informed me that she compose poetry anywhere anytime and that too with tarrannum.
I have made Anita Mukati in-charge of my Urdu directory for Dhar.
The mushaira was well attended. People stayed till end. I was called to recite ghazals in the end, which is great honour for me.
On way to Dhar, I stopped over Indore for one hour. Very graciously, Indore University Urdu Department’s Prof. Waseem Farhat Ansari came to meet me. Waseem Farhat Ansari sb, though young, commands much respect in Urdu world for his sharp and candid essays. I also met veteran poet Naseer Indori sb. My FB fan Meer Ishan Hussain had also come.
